Ranger School Alumni Hockey Game

Ranger School Alumni Hockey Game

On Saturday, April 11th, at Tennity Ice Pavilion, The SUNY ESF Ranger School held its annual alumni game. In a five-game series between the current graduating class of the Ranger School and a team of Ranger School alumni, the alumni came out victorious winning the series 5-0. The alumni had a great showing with 24 former Ranger School graduates attending. The alumni game has been held annually for over a decade now with the winning side receiving the “Bridgen Cup”, a trophy named after Dr. Michael Bridgen, the former director of the SUNY ESF Ranger School. The Ranger School hockey club has been an essential part of the Ranger School student experience since its conception in 1999, and the alumni game provides graduates with a chance to see old friends and get back on the ice.

Sean Van Riper, a member of the 2025 Ranger School graduating class, a current junior at SUNY ESF, and the captain of the SUNY ESF Ice Hockey Club said about the event, “Last year as a student we weren’t able to win, so it was fun to be on the winning side this time around. Overall though, being able to see old friends and share the ice with decades of Ranger School graduates was an amazing experience. The Ranger School holds a special part in all of our hearts and being able to share that passion in the fun environment of a hockey game was really something special.”
